Unfortunately, getting wrinkles, folds, or depressions are part of the natural aging process associated with our facial presentation, and sometimes they can make us look older than we actually are. People are concerned in how we are aging and are beginning to live healthier lifestyles to live longer, even diet and exercise are sometimes not enough to really keep our skin from showing our age. The aging process causes the face and hands to lose underlying fat and collagen, which then causes our skin to droop or sag – and we get visible wrinkles.
Injectable dermal fillers have become more popular because of the immediate effect they have to address skin sagging and wrinkle problems that result from aging, sun damage, skin trauma, scarring, or disease. Injectable dermal fillers are most commonly used to treat facial folds/creases, lips, hollow cheeks and under the eyes. Other uses for dermal fillers may include receding chins, facial atrophy, and superficial scarring – and may even be used to hide nose bumps or fill in and plump thinning skin on the hands.
Dermal fillers are often used with Botox as well to take away contrast to the face associated with the aging process. The most common indication for dermal fillers are folds/creases to the face that create shadows but these natural products can be used to correct problem areas such as laugh lines, smile lines, smoker’s lines, and marionette lines. Other indications may include higher cheekbones, lip plumping, chin contouring, eye hollows, and asymmetric eyebrows. Treatments take less than 15 minutes, depending on the number of injection sites and the amount of product being used. These injections are virtually painless, and the results are immediate and dramatic.
The dermal filler products we use are natural to the body, they are non-allergenic and are safe for all skin types. The effects of dermal fillers can last from 7-12 months depending on which filler is used and in which location it is injected. At present, we are currently using the most popular fillers; Juvederm Ultra-XC, and Juverderm Ultra Plus-XC. We also offer other natural dermal fillers presently available and these options will be discussed through our consultation process.
We only use fillers that are made to be biocompatible with human skin, which eliminates the chance for an allergic reaction – and none of our fillers are made using animal products.
